Communication for community. Radio community is situated in Kathmandu,the capital of Nepal. A true community fm radio one and only of its type.

Radio Upatyaka is established under the three decade social organisation Narayan Pariwar Club situated at Teku, Kathmandu. It is one and only community radio in Kathmandu of its kind as it is owned and run by non-government non-profit body.

The radio has been actively producing programs in the fields of education,health, entertainment, culture, technology, environment, linguistics, handicaps, women and children programs related to the work field of its parent organisation. With a slogan of “Communication for Community”,the radio has cooperated with different communities of the Kathmandu Valley. The name “Upatyaka” in Nepalese literally means “valley”, and in present context according to its placement it means Kathmandu Valley. This has special meaning that the radio is set up for the benefit and well being of the communities in the valley.
